A man has been arrested in Melilla accused of being linked to a radical armed structure, glorifying terrorist activities, absorbing violent ideology and recruiting other people. The individual focused his efforts on young women, whom he subjected to processes of mental coercion in order to incorporate them into the jihadist struggle.
According to the investigation, the arrested man navigated digital environments in search of psychologically fragile people who could fall into his networks. After locating them, he established online communication and subsequently arranged face-to-face meetings. In these encounters, he exercised control over his victims and inculcated them with religious interpretations promoted by armed groups. Additionally, he ordered them to contact other girls to multiply the reach of the indoctrination.
The arrest was carried out by police intelligence services, with the support of the provincial information unit of the autonomous city and the state espionage agency. The direction of the procedure fell to the instructing section of Central Court number 5, overseen by the public prosecutor's office of the national jurisdiction.
During a search of his home, technological devices and documents were seized, which specialists are examining. The on-duty judge agreed to his provisional imprisonment after taking his statement.
