A 33-year-old Polish traveller who vanished in Majorca in mid-April has managed to contact her relatives after several weeks of uncertainty and a search that mobilised authorities from two countries. In a call broadcast by TVN, the young woman said she was in good health and recounted that she had been the victim of theft in which her mobile phone and identity documents were stolen.
According to Fakt, the woman stated in the "Uwaga" programme that she had gone to Spanish law enforcement to report the loss of her passport. "Everything is fine, I am here resting," she said in a tone that surprised both her family members and those following the case.
Private investigator Dawid Burzacki, who was involved in the search, confirmed that Anna had contacted her sister Karolina. During the brief conversation, the missing woman said she was unaware that she was the subject of an international search. However, the detective emphasised that the case remains open and that the woman refused to reveal her exact location or current address.
Anna's sister described the call as strange. The conversation lasted only a few minutes because the phone from which she was calling ran out of battery. According to Karolina, Anna seemed confused and disoriented, and mentioned that she was staying at a hostel where she had previously been attempted to be located.
The tone of the conversation broadcast by TVN contrasted with that description. Anna's voice sounded calm, almost carefree, with no signs that she was in danger or acting under pressure.
Despite the first contact with the family, Polish authorities are remaining cautious. Officer Krzysztof Socha from the Gniezno police station indicated that officials continue to cooperate with Spanish police, as there is still no absolute certainty about the woman's safety. The officers stressed that in situations of this type various scenarios must always be considered, including the possibility that the missing person was forced to make the call.
The young woman disappeared in mid-April in Majorca. At the time of her disappearance she was having a telephone conversation with her brother when the call was suddenly cut off. Days later, the family received a message sent from the account of an unknown man.
The search involved police services from Poland and Spain, as well as private detectives. Although initial contact with the young woman has been made, investigators continue to try to determine her exact whereabouts and what happened during the weeks she was missing.
