Germany's most wanted drug smuggler arrested in Málaga
Spanish police arrested a man in Málaga described by Germany as its most wanted drug smuggler. The arrest was made in cooperation with Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).
Germany's most wanted drug dealer caught in southern Spain
Spanish police arrested a man in Málaga on 24 August, whom German authorities have described as the country's "most wanted" drug smuggler, according to Apollo. The operation was carried out in close cooperation with Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).
A European arrest warrant has been issued against the man for drug smuggling and involvement in organised crime. Television channel Telecinco and other Spanish media report that the arrested man is 38 years old and of Pakistani origin. Official information about his identity was not released, nor was it disclosed which German prosecutor's office is investigating the case.
The investigation began in 2025, when law enforcement agencies obtained information that the fugitive might be located in Spain – a country where he had previously lived. A warehouse belonging to his criminal group was also located there: drugs were loaded into lorries and transported through France to Germany.
To avoid detection, the man had implemented extremely strict security measures. He changed his phone number every two weeks and his documents and identity every three months. Furthermore, he had completed a cybersecurity course in Turkey, which enabled him to prevent location tracking through devices, operating systems, and social media.
His brother led investigators to the suspect. After several days of surveillance and tracking in various Spanish provinces, the suspect was found in his brother's car in Málaga and arrested immediately.
