Twenty arrested in Carlet over high-purity cocaine trafficking in operation involving 120 Civil Guard officers

Family clan in Carlet dismantled over drug trafficking and money laundering
The Civil Guard has dismantled a family clan based in Carlet, a locality in the Valencian Community, involved in the trafficking of high-purity cocaine, heroin and cannabis cultivation. According to ABC, the operation has resulted in 20 arrests and mobilised more than 120 officers from the armed institute.
The investigation began on 31 July, when a patrol on duty in Carlet observed a vehicle performing evasive manoeuvres upon noticing their presence. After identifying the driver, officers found a package containing 1,167 grams of cocaine under the passenger seat and proceeded with the arrest.
Hierarchical structure with differentiated roles
Subsequent investigations revealed a highly hierarchical organisation in which each member performed a specific function. The executive nucleus was made up of two couples who took strategic decisions. The women in the group assumed logistical responsibility: one coordinated the supply of merchandise from security warehouses, whilst the other oversaw the most active sales point and managed both stock and retail distribution.
Nine simultaneous raids and seized material
On 11 May, nine simultaneous entries and raids were carried out at various residences and warehouses. Inside, several indoor cannabis plantations were found, some of them hidden in secret compartments beneath shower trays and false ceilings, equipped with automated irrigation systems to hinder their detection.
The material seized includes one kilogramme of high-purity cocaine, more than 600 additional grams ready for distribution, 80 grams of heroin, 4,912 grams of dried buds, 1,114 cannabis plants and 3,151 seedlings. In financial terms, officers seized 38,850 euros in cash—including a bag containing 2,400 euros in small denomination coins—and two high-end vehicles, two motorcycles and a light quad bike, registered in the names of straw men to launder illegal proceeds.
Agents also found a pistol, a shotgun stolen in 2023 and approximately 200 cartridges of different calibres.
Twenty arrested, five remanded in custody
Among those arrested are six Spanish women and thirteen men, all Spanish except one of Moroccan nationality, aged between 25 and 67 years. Additionally, a 16-year-old minor was arrested. Five of those detained, including the group leaders, have been remanded in provisional custody.
The charges brought include drug trafficking, money laundering, electricity fraud, membership of a criminal organisation, unlawful possession of weapons and drug cultivation. The investigation was carried out by officers from the Main Station in Carlet, and the proceedings have been delivered to the Civil and Instruction Section of the Carlet Plaza number 1 Court.
