Three arrests following ram-raid attack in Lyon
Three suspects were arrested on Sunday, 4 October following an attempted theft targeting the I-Run shop located on Rue Ferrandière in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon, according to lyonmag.com. The incident occurred around 5:36 a.m., when the perpetrators used a black Citroën DS3 registered in Isère to smash through the storefront of the sports equipment specialist.
The ram-raid did not allow the individuals to penetrate sufficiently into the shop to steal goods. According to the investigators' report, at least one of the suspects was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. The perpetrators abandoned the car at the scene before fleeing, but were quickly apprehended by law enforcement during the course of the day.
Material damage was substantial. A window and the lower part of the façade were damaged by the impact, whilst the entrance door remained intact. Damage was visible at the level of the vehicle's rear bumper, which was abandoned at the scene. The shop, located between the areas of Rue Édouard-Herriot and Rue de la République, had opened its doors in 2024.
On Sunday late morning, the DS3 was still standing in front of the shop. A security perimeter had been set up by police on Rue Ferrandière to conduct investigative findings. The vehicle used had not been reported as stolen at the time of the incident.
The investigation continues to establish the full circumstances of this attempted theft by an organised gang. The three suspects detained remain in police custody to be questioned by investigators.
