Police officers from the first division of the Paris criminal investigation department arrested singer Patrick Bruel on Monday, 8 June at 08:25. This restrictive measure on his freedom is part of an investigation coordinated by the Nanterre public prosecutor's office.
According to a statement issued by the magistrates, the investigation concerns allegations initially reported by three women, which led the capital's public prosecutor's office to transfer the case to that of Nanterre. These complainants accuse the artist of forced touching and attempted rape occurring in 1997, 2000 and 2001 respectively. As investigations have progressed, other people have come forward, most of whom have already been interviewed. They report rapes, attempted rapes, sexual assaults and harassment.
Investigators are also examining allegations that occurred during a festival in Dinard in 2012, where a woman accuses the performer of rape. The Saint-Malo public prosecutor's office transferred the file to that of Nanterre on 29 May 2026. Similar accusations made against the musician in Belgium are also being examined in detail.
Currently, thirteen people are recorded as victims in this case. The detention measure, initially limited to twenty-four hours, may be extended once, which could bring the total duration to forty-eight hours.
