Double murder in Aigio: Authorities search for perpetrator
In Aigio, a 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son met a tragic death inside their home. Police authorities are investigating the case, whilst the woman's Italian partner, aged 65, denies any connection to the bloody incident.
The victim is reported to have resisted the perpetrator before her death. The knife found at the scene bore no fingerprint traces. The crime scene had a strong smell of alcohol, a fact that drew police attention.
Investigators are examining the possibility that the suspect attempted to eliminate evidence, as cleaned clothing was found inside the residence. The 65-year-old claims he was sleeping at the time and noticed nothing.
The Italian was brought before an examining magistrate. His legal representatives are expected to request a postponement to prepare his defence strategy.
The co-accused claims that the woman and the young man killed each other. He refers to the 26-year-old as "his child".
The results of laboratory analyses are awaited with interest. Police consider the case to be at a critical stage. Specialists from the Homicide Division of Athens conducted a detailed investigation at the scene, in cooperation with local officials.
It is noteworthy that there are no signs of forced entry, whilst cameras recorded no unusual movement. This leads investigators to the conclusion that the murderer was already inside the house, where according to witness accounts only family members were present.
The couple faced difficulties, both on an economic and personal level. The woman had sold a property and given the money to her son, who was living abroad. The Italian is reported to have been troubled by this decision.
The young man had returned from Germany to transport his mother to doctors, as he was suffering from a heart condition.
