Koutsoumpas in parliament over attack by fascists on schoolgirl in Patras
According to In.gr, the general secretary of the Communist Party of Greece Dimitris Koutsoumpas appeared angry in parliament, denouncing a murderous attack by a fascist group on a schoolgirl who is a member of KNE on Tuesday night in Patras.
"You have, government members, enormous and criminal responsibilities, you allow fascist-like elements to roam free," Koutsoumpas stated during the discussion of legislation on the administrators of red loans. He cited additional incidents: a fascist non-commissioned officer extinguished a cigarette on a soldier's cheek, while another kicked out a colleague's teeth.
Regarding the attack in Patras, the general secretary of the Communist Party of Greece stated that an armed fascist gang attacked the schoolgirl outside her home, as well as her parents, neighbours, and classmates and students who rushed to help her. The police arrested some who were found in their car with a gun and knives – however, according to Koutsoumpas, those who had come to help the schoolgirl were also arrested.
Koutsoumpas sharply criticised the absence of governmental response, despite the Communist Party having raised the issue earlier. "Shame," he exclaimed, pointing out that neither the responsible minister, nor the prime minister, nor anyone from the government had responded. "Where are we heading? Will we mourn another Fyssas and other crimes?" he asked, referring to the murder of anti-fascist Pavlos Fyssas in 2013.
