Two men arrested following violent confrontation in Zagreb. Older suspect deliberately struck younger man's vehicle before attacking him with a blunt object.
Family dispute on Pešćenica ends in pursuit, collision and wrecked cars
Zagreb police intervened on Sunday around 15:00 on Pešćenica where a violent confrontation occurred between two men connected by family relations.
According to an official statement, a 29-year-old initially threatened his 61-year-old relative, after which he fled in his Volkswagen. The older man did not remain calm — he got into his own Škoda Fabia and set off after him. He soon caught up with the younger driver and deliberately struck him.
When the twenty-nine-year-old stopped, the sixty-one-year-old got out of his car, took a blunt object and smashed the front and rear windscreen on the younger man's vehicle. He then approached the driver's door and attempted to strike him and cause him physical injury.
The younger man sustained minor injuries from the broken glass and received medical assistance at the scene.
Police arrested both participants. The sixty-one-year-old was taken in for criminal investigation on suspicion of committing violent criminal offences, whilst the twenty-nine-year-old was brought in for the threats he had made prior to the entire series of events.
An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
