Suspected breach of trust: police investigate Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry property purchases
The Budapest Police Headquarters is investigating the property purchases of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) on suspicion of breach of trust. Behind the selling company stands Péter Mihálovics, the former chief of staff of Miklós Seszták.

Police investigation into chamber property transactions
According to Telex's information, the Budapest Police Headquarters has launched an investigation into the property purchases of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) and its Budapest organisation, the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK), on suspicion of breach of trust. The case was originally made public by HVG.
Chamber president Elek Nagy told HVG that the proposals relating to the purchases in question were unanimously accepted by the board, including by those who today object to the transactions. An internal audit also found the transactions to be in order.
However, some members of the board raised several objections. They primarily object to the fact that the seller, TP Property Zrt., acquired the properties in question shortly before the sale. TP Property is owned by Ideona Zrt., whose official owner is the Márványi Asset Management Foundation. The company's chief executive is Péter Mihálovics, who previously worked as chief of staff for Fidesz politician Miklós Seszták, and has been appearing in the media in recent times as a property entrepreneur.
A further objection is that TP Property obtained a loan from the state-owned Exim Bank to purchase the properties.
The Budapest Police Headquarters confirmed to HVG that an investigation has been launched against an unknown perpetrator, and no suspect interviews have taken place pending the response. On account of the interests of the proceedings, they did not provide further information.
