NAV examines Logosz Foundation that promoted Fidesz using public funds
The National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) has launched an investigation against the Logosz Foundation on suspicion of budget fraud totalling approximately 20 million forints – reports forbes.hu citing HVG.
The proceedings were initiated after the Ministry for Social Relations and Culture filed a complaint against the organisation. The Logosz Foundation received a total of 30.4 million forints in state support between 2024 and 2026 from the Urban Civil Fund, primarily for the purpose of providing objective information to the public.
However, articles praising Fidesz and its politicians appeared in the magazine Jövőképek published using the support, including a piece with the headline "Everyone benefits with Fidesz!" Materials promoting Balázs Németh and Barna Pál Zsigmond also appeared in the foundation's publications. Among the invoices reviewed by the ministry, officials discovered one marked as "distribution of election materials".
According to Minister Zoltán Tarr, the foundation regularly diverted public funds to disseminating government propaganda instead of its stated objective of providing information. The investigation also revealed that the organisation placed part of the support received – 4 million forints – in a bank deposit.
The NAV investigation is intended to clarify whether the use of the support constituted budget fraud. The alleged financial loss associated with the case amounts to approximately 20 million forints. The initiation of the investigation does not constitute a finding of guilt.
