Arrests for attempted campervan theft in Genoa

The Genoa State Police, according to questure.poliziadistato.it, arrested two Egyptians aged 18 and 19 yesterday evening for aggravated attempted theft in concert. The operation was launched following a report from a citizen who had noticed the two tampering with a campervan whose alarm system was sounding.

The two had forced open a side window and entered the vehicle, stealing its interior fittings. Officers traced them whilst they were still inside a second campervan parked nearby. One attempted to flee by exiting through a window but was immediately stopped.

Both caravans were found with their interiors ransacked and a side window torn off. The owners were asked to verify the damage and file a formal report. The two young men will be subject to summary proceedings, saving the presumption of innocence until final judgment.
