During the night between Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June, Genoa local police conducted the operation named "Largo Raggio" in the corso Italia area and neighbouring zones. According to smart.comune.genova.it: 25 officers deployed from territorial and specialist units, 78 people checked, one arrest and two charges for receiving stolen goods.
The Anti-degradation Unit, the Commerce Unit, the Judicial Police Department, the Canine Unit and personnel from Territorial Units participated in the operation. The stated objective was to combat urban degradation phenomena, unauthorised activity, illicit consumption of alcohol and behaviour in violation of municipal regulations in the areas most frequented by the city's nightlife.
The arrest: flight with revoked driving licence
In the first significant episode, officers from the Judicial Police Department arrested an Italian citizen who, in an attempt to evade control, fled whilst driving a vehicle. Subsequent checks established that the man was driving the vehicle despite his driving licence being revoked. During the flight he caused damage to other vehicles, putting the safety of people present at risk.
The charge: stolen motorcycle and pursuit in corso Saffi
In the second episode, a patrol intercepted a motorcycle found to be stolen. Following a pursuit that ended in corso Aurelio Saffi, officers stopped both occupants of the vehicle: a foreign minor and a foreign adult. Both were charged with receiving stolen goods. The motorcycle was recovered for return to its rightful owner.
Road Code violations and intoxication
During the service, 38 vehicle drivers were also checked. Among the offences detected: one case of driving without insurance coverage resulting in vehicle seizure, two cases of driving without a helmet with administrative impounding of vehicles and a fine for manifest intoxication.
Alcohol sales outside hours and irregularities on public land
Checks on commercial establishments led to two violations of the municipal ordinance prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages for takeaway after 22:00. Irregularities were also found regarding occupation of public land, with areas found to be significantly larger than those authorised.
An unlicensed street vendor who was conducting food sales activity in a prohibited area and also occupying spaces reserved for disabled persons was fined over 5,000 euros, in addition to Road Code violations.
Minors and alcohol, priority objective
Among the priorities of the operation was combating the spread of alcohol consumption among minors. Checks concerned both commercial establishments and nightlife areas most frequented by young people, with particular attention to the ways in which minors could obtain alcoholic beverages. During the service numerous young people, foreign citizens and minors were checked.

"We have further intensified controls and for the entire season our attention will focus thoroughly on the nerve centres of the summer nightlife, to guarantee Genoese residents and tourists safe entertainment and full respect for cohabitation rules," declared Mayor Silvia Salis. Salis thanked the officers for their professionalism, emphasising that they are increasingly called upon to address policing needs that go beyond traditional municipal responsibilities. She reiterated her request for greater resources from the government for the safety of municipalities and renewed her invitation to sign new Pacts for city safety.

"The operation is part of the services announced in the Summer 2026 Security Plan, to oversee and protect the safety of the areas most frequented by Genoese residents and tourists," commented Assessor for Safety Arianna Viscogliosi. The checks, she added, "confirm the commitment of local police in guaranteeing safety and legality and responsible entertainment".
During the entire operation no episodes of particular violence, brawls or serious disturbances were recorded in the areas affected. The constant presence of patrols contributed to maintaining public order in the areas affected by Genoa's summer nightlife.
