A 51-year-old man attempted to strangle his wife after breaking down a door in their home in Reggio Emilia. The judge ordered his immediate removal from the house and a ban on approaching the victim.
Domestic violence: attempted murder in front of children
According to fanpage.it, a woman was attacked in the Reggio area during yet another episode of domestic violence. The man, 51 years old, broke down the kitchen door where his wife had taken refuge with her mother and attempted to strangle her in front of their two minor children. His mother-in-law's intervention and the rapid arrival of the carabinieri prevented the worst from happening.
The row broke out on 25 October over domestic issues. The woman, terrified by death threats she had been receiving over time, had locked herself in the kitchen with her mother seeking protection. When her husband broke down the door and grabbed her by the neck, it was his mother-in-law's intervention that stopped the assault.
The wife immediately called 112. The carabinieri from Quattro Castella intervened quickly and took the woman to the emergency department of Reggio Emilia hospital. Procedures under the Red Code protocol were activated: the family — wife, mother and the two children — was transferred to a protected facility.
The judge for preliminary investigations ordered the man's immediate removal from the family home and a ban on approaching the victim. The man is accused of aggravated personal injury committed against his spouse in the presence of minors and serious threats. Investigations by the carabinieri confirmed a pattern of repeated violence over time.
