On Saturday evening, a serious incident occurred in a railway compartment. As the train had just come to a halt at the station, two unknown individuals sprayed pepper spray inside it. According to authorities, the attackers were attempting to steal belongings from passengers. With their plan thwarted, they fled running towards nearby woodland.
The use of this substance caused respiratory discomfort and throat irritation among several passengers present in the carriage. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.
Law enforcement immediately raised the alarm and launched a search in the area. Initial investigations failed to apprehend the fleeing suspects. It was not until around one o'clock in the morning that a patrol spotted two figures matching witness descriptions. The suspects were hiding in an unoccupied building located in the Belair district, in Luxembourg.
During a search, officers discovered and seized two aerosol cans containing irritant gas. On the public prosecutor's instructions, the two men were placed in custody. Official reports were drawn up against them.
