A man deceived a victim in Bofferdange by posing as a car buyer, without ever transferring the money. The Grand Ducal police have launched an appeal for witnesses.

According to Le Quotidien, the Grand Ducal police are seeking to identify a man suspected of abuse of trust committed in Bofferdange on 13 December 2025, around 15:00.

On that day, the individual presented himself at the home of a victim, posing as a garage employee who wished to buy back his vehicle. At the moment of concluding the transaction, he showed the victim an image purporting to confirm that a bank transfer had been made.

It later emerged that the money had never been credited to the victim's account.

In the course of the investigation, investigators are seeking to identify the person appearing in a photograph in their possession. Any useful information can be transmitted to Mersch police station, by telephone on (+352) 244 90 1000 or by email to [email protected].
