At around 3.30 am, in the night of Monday to Tuesday, gunfire rang out inside a house in the Bel Air estate in Vauclin, according to franceguyane.fr. The toll stands at two dead and four injured, three of them hit by bullets.
On the road leading to the residence, lined with palm trees and substantial villas, gendarmes quickly established a security perimeter at the entrance to the estate. Only residents, following identity checks, were authorised to enter or leave the grounds. All outside access remained impossible.
