According to la1ere.franceinfo.fr, a shooting broke out on Tuesday 7 April shortly before 22:00 in the La Laugier district of Rivière-Salée, Martinique. A 25-year-old man was struck by gunfire and died at the scene.
Upon arrival of emergency services, the victim was in cardio-respiratory arrest, with injuries to the lower limbs. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful, and death was confirmed at the scene.
An investigation was opened by the gendarmerie. The perpetrators of the shooting remain the subject of a search by law enforcement.
This tragedy brings the number of homicides recorded in Martinique since the start of 2026 to nine, of which eight were committed with firearms.
