On Friday 29 August, at approximately 23:30, the owner of a hair salon located in Robert narrowly escaped death. As he was leaving his establishment after his working day, several individuals targeted him and opened fire. According to initial findings, at least fourteen bullet impacts were found on the business and on the manager's vehicle.
Aged 32, the latter was miraculously spared from the gunfire. There were no injuries, but the material damage is considerable. The attackers fled and have not yet been apprehended.
The search and intervention brigade (BRI) of Fort-de-France was seized of the matter. Investigators have opened a judicial inquiry for attempted murder. They will have to determine the motive for this attack and identify the shooters.
This event particularly shocked the local population, especially given that the municipality of Robert is reputed to be "quiet" according to the terms of mayor Farell François-Haugrin. This shooting occurs in a context of increasing gun violence in Martinique.
