A prisoner detained in the Paris region allegedly supervised from his prison cell an illicit drugs operation between mainland France and Martinique. This individual is listed among the fifty largest drug dealers in the country, according to Europe 1.
The arrangement was based on a bidirectional exchange: white powder left the island for mainland France, whilst dried cannabis travelled in the opposite direction. To establish this structure, the prisoner is said to have formed an alliance with distributors in the Paris region.
The facts came to light in December 2024, when agents discovered nearly five hundred kilograms of plant resin hidden in a container unloaded at Fort-de-France port, originating from Le Havre.
Searches also recovered several luxury vehicles, rifles and pistols, as well as an envelope containing thirty thousand euros in banknotes.
Specialists from the OFAST traced the operation back to its instigator. In examining his financial assets, they froze more than five hundred thousand euros in his accounts.
The suspect, already imprisoned for other offences, now faces legal proceedings for these new charges.
