A man was arrested on Wednesday afternoon following a shoplifting incident at Rema 1000 in Bodø town centre. He allegedly struck an employee twice in the temple and made verbal threats.

On Wednesday shortly after 1.30 p.m., police attended Rema 1000 in Sentrumsgården in Bodø, reports an.no. A man had been detained, suspected of theft from the shop.
According to police, a shop employee attempted to prevent the perpetrator from leaving, whereupon the situation escalated. Operations leader Morten Sørensen from Nordland police district states that the man struck the employee twice in the temple and made verbal threats.
"It appears there was considerable force in the blows. We are talking about strikes to the temple," says Sørensen.
Police had control of the perpetrator and remained at the scene while Sørensen made his statement. Questioning took place at the scene.
Sørensen also states that CCTV footage from the shop will be included in the further investigation.
