A man was found lying outdoors in Trøgstadveien in Askim in Indre Østfold overnight Thursday to Friday, with multiple stab wounds to the upper body. This is reported by aftenposten.no.
Random passers-by discovered the man around 3 o'clock, according to operations manager Ronny Samuelsen in the East Police District. He was airlifted to Ullevål Hospital in Oslo for surgery during the night.
The case is being investigated as attempted murder, the East Police District stated in a press release on Friday.
"He is life-threateningly injured and has not been able to give an account of himself," police prosecutor Jan Schei told Aftenposten.
The victim is a man of foreign origin. The perpetrator is currently unknown.
Police believe the stabbing itself did not occur where the man was found, but at another location. They have traced an address they believe to be the actual crime scene.
"He was found in the middle of the street. We believe the stabbing did not occur there, but at another location," the police prosecutor said.
Crime scene technicians were on their way to the location at 5 o'clock Friday morning. Police are particularly interested in tips from the period between 11.30 p.m. and 3 a.m., and are asking anyone with information to get in touch.
