Suspect in hit-and-run case on Rv4 still refuses to take a stand on guilt
A man in his 30s charged with negligent manslaughter is continuing to be questioned on Sunday following the death of a cyclist on national road 4. Police are declining to release details about the investigation.

The suspect in connection with the hit-and-run on national road 4 early Saturday morning remains in questioning on Sunday, according to police prosecutor Julie Dalsveen in a statement cited by oa.no.
– The investigation into the hit-and-run on Rv4 on Saturday is proceeding at full force. The suspect is being questioned on Sunday as well, and questioning is still ongoing. The suspect has not yet taken a position on whether he admits criminal guilt, says Dalsveen.
She adds that the question of when the suspect will take a stand on the guilt issue will be answered once there is new information in the case.
Police assess that there is a risk of evidence tampering, and therefore decline to go into detail about the ongoing investigative work. On Sunday, a series of investigative steps are being carried out, including several witness interviews.

Police have not yet decided whether the suspect, a man in his 30s, should be brought before the court for remand in custody. This is expected to be clarified on Monday.
Early Saturday morning, a local man in his 20s was struck by a vehicle whilst cycling along national road 4. Passers-by discovered the man and alerted the emergency services. Police received the report at 03.32. Life-saving first aid was administered at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead.
It quickly became clear to police that this could be a hit-and-run. The driver was not at the scene, and police called broadly on the public as well as insurance companies and repair shops to provide tips and observations.
At 13.18 on Saturday, a man in his 30s from the Mjøs region reported to Hamar police station in connection with the incident. The man is charged with negligent manslaughter.
His defence counsel, Barbro Røkenes, told oa.no that she was contacted by her client on Saturday morning.
– He wished to report himself to the police, and I assisted him with that. It is too early for me to say anything about how he views the question of criminal guilt, she said on Saturday afternoon.
