Arrest for trafficking large quantities of drugs near Grudziądz
In late May this year, officers from the Grudziądz police station entered a flat in Nowa Wieś. In a wardrobe they found bags filled with small plastic bags containing various substances – yellow and white powders, mushrooms, green-brown plant material and brown-coloured material.
Drug testing kits confirmed that the findings contained amphetamine weighing more than 7.8 kg including packaging, amphetamine mixed with caffeine with a net weight of over 290 g, cannabis weighing more than 6 g and heroin weighing more than 3 g. Preliminary laboratory analyses additionally verified the presence of a psychotropic substance in the form of amphetamine.
During the search, a 36-year-old man was present in the flat, who himself showed officers where the substances were hidden. The man was detained on the spot.
Investigators charged Wojciech L. with involvement in trafficking large batches of psychotropic and narcotic substances on the basis of Article 56, subsection 3 of the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction. During questioning, he partially confessed to the charges.
The prosecutor determined that there was a risk of the suspect fleeing, obstructing the proceedings, and that he faced a lengthy prison sentence. Accordingly, the prosecutor submitted a request to the district court for remand in custody. The court granted the request. Proceedings in this case are ongoing.
