The body of Semyon Skrepetsky, a 44-year-old Russian artist known for his caricatures of Vladimir Putin, was found in a car park in Biała Podlaska. The man was shot five times.

On Monday 15 June in Biała Podlaska, a city located approximately 40 kilometres from the border with Belarus, the body of a 44-year-old Russian was discovered. The man, who worked under the pseudonym Semyon Skrepetsky, was known for his public criticism of Russian authorities.
The district prosecutor's office in Lublin provided details of the incident the following day. According to initial findings, the victim was confronted by an unknown assailant who fired two shots from a short-barrelled firearm. When the artist fell, the attacker approached and fired three more times before fleeing. Five shell casings were found at the crime scene, reported Marcin Kozak, spokesman for the Lublin prosecutor's office.
Skrepetsky was opposed to President Vladimir Putin and also criticised Alexander Lukashenko in Belarus and Ramzan Kadyrov in Chechnya. He created caricatures and conducted artistic activities under a pseudonym, expressing opposition to the current policy of the Kremlin.
Two Belarusian citizens aged 33 and 37 were arrested in connection with the case. The men were apprehended near the Belarusian consulate following a large-scale manhunt. The investigation is to establish what role they played in the incident.
Authorities are conducting an investigation into the murder. Details concerning the motive and circumstances remain the subject of ongoing inquiry.
