Gdańsk prosecution investigates Israeli naval forces. Four Poles aboard humanitarian flotilla
The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk has initiated proceedings concerning four Polish citizens who in October 2025 participated in a humanitarian mission in the Mediterranean Sea. They took part in the Global Sumud Flotilla, which set out to provide assistance to Gaza Strip.
Investigators are analysing the actions of Israeli naval forces, which detained the vessel. According to the prosecution, the conduct of the soldiers may constitute piracy, which is an offence prosecuted ex officio.
The proceedings are being conducted under article 256 paragraph 1 of the criminal code, which provides for a sentence of up to 12 years imprisonment for an attack on a merchant ship for the purpose of robbery.
As part of the investigation, the alleged victims have already been questioned. The prosecution has also requested legal assistance from Israeli authorities, sending a letter requesting the transfer of materials concerning the course of events.
