Escape ended in a crash

Police officers from the Szklarska Poręba Police Station detained a 42-year-old suspected of failing to stop for a traffic control, driving despite court-imposed bans, and possession of drugs. According to jelenia-gora.policja.gov.pl, the incident occurred on 28 October 2026 at approximately 16:00 on Kryształowa Street in Piechowice.

Officers patrolling the area noticed a Ford vehicle. Based on available information, it appeared the driver might have a court-imposed driving ban. Despite the use of flashing lights and audio signals and orders given, the man ignored the orders and started to flee.

During the drive, he grossly disregarded traffic regulations. He overtook vehicles whilst driving on the pavement, creating a serious hazard to himself and other road users. After driving several kilometres, he turned onto a gravel road, did not adjust his speed to the conditions, and left the road.

Officers detained the 42-year-old at the crash site. They found drugs on the man, which they secured. Officers confirmed that two court-imposed driving bans applied to him. Just days earlier, the man had already been detained for driving despite bans and brought before the court.

The 42-year-old will answer in court for failure to stop for a traffic control, driving despite court-imposed bans, and possession of drugs. He faces a sentence of up to five years' imprisonment.
