An Audi driver with nearly 2 per mil alcohol in his system collided with the rear of a Volkswagen. The 19-year-old driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with injuries that proved to be minor.

On Sunday evening on national road number 53 in Myszyńiec Stary, two cars collided. The 28-year-old resident of Ostrołęka county, who was driving an Audi whilst intoxicated, is responsible for the collision.
The incident occurred after 9 p.m. The man attempted to overtake on a straight section of the road, but collided with the rear of a Volkswagen Golf that was travelling in compliance with regulations. The vehicle was being driven by a 19-year-old from the Mrągowo area. As a result of the impact, the younger driver became trapped inside the vehicle and required intervention from firefighters. Units from OSP Myszyniec, OSP Wydmusy and PSP Ostrołęka conducted a rescue operation at the scene. The victim was taken to a medical facility – fortunately his injuries proved not to be serious.
Officers from the Ostrołęka police command established that the perpetrator was intoxicated. A test showed nearly 2 per mil alcohol in his system. Additionally, it emerged that the 19-year-old passenger sitting beside him was also under the influence – he had over 1 per mil.
The intoxicated driver's driving licence was seized at the scene. He will soon appear before a court, where he will face charges for his actions. A section of the route was impassable for a time.
"We appeal to all persons using the roads to exercise good sense. Each of us bears responsibility for the safety of other road users. One moment of inattention or lack of sobriety can change the lives of many people," emphasises Chief Inspector Tomasz Żerański from the local police.
