According to lubuska.policja.gov.pl, on Saturday 13 June, before 3 p.m., a road collision occurred on Szarych Szeregów Street in Gorzów Wielkopolski. The driver of an Audi collided at high speed with the rear of a Volkswagen, and then, together with a passenger, attempted to flee the scene on foot.
The arrest of both men was made possible by the swift reaction of an officer from the Provincial Police Command, who was in the area off-duty, and the intervention of bystanders. A man with a young child was travelling in the Volkswagen. Fortunately, no one sustained serious injuries.
Testing showed that the 27-year-old Audi driver had over two per mille of alcohol in his blood. The man did not possess a licence to drive vehicles. Officers took a blood sample from him for further testing.
Investigators working at the scene of the incident secured narcotics during a search of the vehicle. Preliminary testing indicated that these were nearly 200 grammes of mephedrone and MDMA tablets. The course of the entire incident was quickly reconstructed thanks to recordings from city surveillance cameras.
The 27-year-old was charged with driving whilst intoxicated, possessing a significant quantity of narcotics, and causing the collision. At the prosecutor's request, the court remanded him in custody for three months.
