According to podkarpacka.policja.gov.pl, last Saturday after 21:00, the duty officer at Jasło police headquarters received a report of an Opel driver weaving through the streets of Jasło. A witness who was driving behind the vehicle alerted the authorities after noticing that the car was moving across the full width of the road.

Police officers stopped the driver and conducted a breathalyser test. The result showed close to 2 per mille of alcohol in the system of the 38-year-old man. It also turned out that the man did not have a driving licence.

In the car were the man's wife and their 5-year-old son. Officers checked the sobriety status of the woman – the test showed almost 1.6 per mille of alcohol in the 32-year-old. Alcohol was also found on the rear seats of the vehicle.

The driver will answer before the court for driving under the influence and without the required qualifications. Both parents may face criminal liability under article 160 of the Penal Code, namely for endangering a child. The family court was also informed of the matter.

Police emphasised the appropriate reaction of the witness, who did not ignore the dangerous situation and immediately notified the authorities. Officers appeal for every case of driving under the influence of alcohol to be reported to the Police.
