Police officers from the Department for Combating Drug Crime established that narcotics could be manufactured in farm buildings on a property in Opatów county. They suspected two men aged 36 and 62. On Monday, officers entered the property; the operation also involved officers from the criminal investigation and inquiry-prosecution departments, officers from Opatów and Kielce, and a Holy Cross Voivodeship counter-terrorism unit.

A 62-year-old was arrested at the scene. His younger suspected partner attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. According to radiokielce.pl, police officers found containers with chemical substances and a reactor – a tank used for manufacturing illegal substances with visible signs of use – in the farm buildings. Officers seized close to 680 kilogrammes of clephedrone in the crystallisation phase and other substances that could be used for drug manufacturing, including almost 2,500 litres of liquid in various containers.

During the search, officers found two objects resembling firearms – their nature will be confirmed by expert examination – 22 rounds of ammunition and over 25,000 Polish zloty in cash. Both detainees were charged with manufacturing drugs on an industrial scale, which carries a sentence of up to 20 years imprisonment. On Wednesday, the court ordered their provisional detention for three months.
