A dangerous situation unfolded in Jaśle when a man driving an Audi did not respond to signals from a patrol to stop. Instead, he accelerated and ran through a traffic light on red.
During the chase through the city streets, the 35-year-old repeatedly ignored STOP signs and attempted to mislead officers by giving false direction indicator signals. His 29-year-old passenger was throwing packages containing psychoactive substances out of the car windows during this time.
Laboratory analysis revealed the presence of amphetamine and marijuana in the seized bags. Testing also showed that the driver was under the influence of drugs. The man abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly overpowered by police. When his details were checked, it was found that he had lost his driving licence.
He will now face court for driving under the influence of narcotics, which carries a sentence of up to three years' imprisonment, as well as for fleeing a traffic control, which carries a sentence of up to five years in prison.
During subsequent operations, officers visited the passenger's residence. There they found a 27-year-old, in possession of whom were further supplies of marijuana and amphetamine weighing approximately 80 grams. An electronic scale, dozens of small plastic bags, and 4,000 zloty in cash were also seized.
The younger of the men was charged with possessing narcotics. The court imposed a preventive measure against him in the form of three months' remand in custody.
