A 37-year-old man from Turkey has been remanded in custody following a collision in which two young men died on the border between Ząbki and Zielonka.

On Saturday, a tragic road incident occurred on the road between Ząbki and Zielonka near Warsaw. A 37-year-old man from Turkey, driving a Honda towards the capital, turned left from a right-turn lane. This caused a head-on collision with an Audi.
The Audi left the roadway and struck road infrastructure – a traffic light pole, a sign, and barriers. The vehicle broke apart into two sections, and debris damaged three additional vehicles parked in the area.
Three people were taken to hospital in serious condition. Doctors were unable to save two of them – a 22-year-old and a 23-year-old man.
Officers detained the perpetrator at the scene. A conducted sobriety check showed that he had no alcohol in his system.
The prosecutor charged him with causing a catastrophe resulting in death. He also petitioned the court for the suspect to be remanded in custody for three months. The District Court in Wołomin granted the petition.
The man denied his guilt and refused to give testimony. The criminal code provides for a sentence of between six months and eight years imprisonment for this offence.
