Deputy justice minister Maria Ejchart provided clarifications on Saturday regarding the detention of journalist Leszek K. She emphasised that the arrested man was not placed in the category marked with the letter N.

In the Polish penitentiary system, N. status is granted to people who pose a significant risk to society or may threaten order in a prison facility. Such designation is accompanied by particular rigours during the serving of a sentence.

Ejchart stressed that in the case of Leszek K., this classification was not applied. This means that the man is not considered a person posing a serious danger to those around him or to the prison facility itself.

Details concerning the charges brought against the journalist and the circumstances of his detention were not disclosed by the deputy minister. The case remains ongoing.
