The court sentenced a 77-year-old Opel driver to one year imprisonment with conditional suspension, and a BMW driver to three years unconditional imprisonment for a collision in which three elderly women from Poniatowa died.

The Regional Court in Chodel delivered a verdict in the case of a tragic collision on the city's bypass, in which three residents of Poniatowa aged 72–75 died. A fourth passenger survived but sustained injuries.
According to the court's findings, the 77-year-old driving an Opel forced his right of way. The court sentenced him to one year imprisonment with a two-year conditional suspension of the sentence.
The second driver – at the wheel of the Bavarian car – received a significantly harsher sentence: three years unconditional imprisonment and a three-year ban on driving vehicles. The man was travelling at approximately 140 km/h, while the speed limit on that section of road was 70 km/h.
During the trial, the court examined not only the circumstances of the collision itself, but also the BMW driver's conduct after the incident, including his activity on social media.
The judge ordered compensation of 20,000 zlotys for the surviving victim. The verdict is not final – the legal representative of one of the deceased woman's family announced an appeal.
