Officers from CBZC arrested three young men responsible for a series of false alarms in Warsaw. Their actions targeted the TV Republika headquarters, its chief's premises, the property of the former PiS chairman, and a historian's flat.
One of the arrested individuals is a previously convicted cybercriminal. Last year, he operated in a group of seven hackers who triggered hundreds of false alarms to thousands of facilities, causing the evacuation of nearly 12,000 people. Despite this, he avoided arrest at the time and continued his criminal activity.
The court decided to remand two suspects into custody. The third is not covered by proceedings conducted by the Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor's Office.
The suspects communicated via the dark web, using encrypted messengers and virtual private networks. One wanted to test the services' response, another was testing his own skills.
Investigators are also examining whether foreign intelligence services were behind the group's activities. Experts point out that proving links to intelligence requires combining criminal investigation with geopolitical analysis.
The arrested individuals are cooperating with the prosecution. Their testimonies are to help establish who made the false fire report at the president's mother's house.
