Singer Cristian Pomohaci arrested in custody for 30 days at Târgu Mureș
Târgu Mureș District Court has ordered the preventive arrest of Cristian Pomohaci, who is under investigation for rape of a minor and sexual assault. Sums estimated at 2 million euros were seized during searches.
Pomohaci held and arrested following searches at residences in Târgu Mureș
Târgu Mureș District Court ordered on Thursday the 30-day preventive arrest of singer Cristian Pomohaci, aged 57, who is under investigation for rape of a minor and sexual assault, according to agerpres.ro.
The court approved the proposal made by the Public Prosecutor's Office attached to Târgu Mureș District Court. The ruling is not final.
"This evening, 4 June 2026, Târgu Mureș District Court approved the proposal made by the Public Prosecutor's Office attached to Târgu Mureș District Court, ordering the measure of preventive arrest for 30 days against the 57-year-old man under investigation for committing the crimes of rape of a minor and sexual assault," announced the Mureș County Police Inspectorate (IPJ).
Minors targeted in the period 2024–2026
Investigations carried out to date have shown that, during the interval 2024–2026, Pomohaci would have exploited the vulnerable state of several male minors, maintaining sexual relations with them in exchange for sums of money and other material benefits, the Mureș IPJ clarified.
The singer had been held on Wednesday evening for 24 hours after police officers from the Mureș Criminal Investigation Service executed two home search warrants at his residences in Târgu Mureș municipality.
"On 3 June 2026, under the coordination and supervision of the prosecutor handling the case from the Public Prosecutor's Office attached to Târgu Mureș District Court, police officers from the Mureș Criminal Investigation Service carried out two home search warrants in Târgu Mureș municipality in a criminal case concerning the commission of crimes against freedom and sexual integrity," the Mureș IPJ communicated on Wednesday evening.
Approximately 2 million euros seized from searches
Following the search of the two residences, police officers discovered and seized multiple sums of money in different currencies, whose total value is estimated at approximately 2 million euros, the Mureș IPJ clarified.
Pomohaci was placed in the Mureș Remand and Preventive Arrest Centre following his detention on 3 June, with the case to continue being handled by prosecutors at the Public Prosecutor's Office attached to Târgu Mureș District Court.
