Arrested for shooting in Bagarmossen – victim may have been selected by mistake
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in Bagarmossen in Stockholm, reports 8sidor.se. The victim, a 25-year-old man, was shot in his car on Friday, 23 October.
Police believe the perpetrator shot the wrong person. According to newspaper Aftonbladet, it was actually another person with a similar car who was the intended target – a man with links to criminal gangs and family in the area where the shooting took place.
The shooting may be a revenge attack linked to the murder of 24-year-old Saba Abraham, who was killed in a sports hall in Älvsjö on 16 October.
Police assess that rival gangs in Stockholm are in an escalation. Aftonbladet writes that the gangs risk retaliating by shooting members of each other's families, which increases the risk of further shootings.
