Drone used in moose hunt – police investigate hunting offence in Norrbotten

Police in Norrbotten are investigating hunting offences after credible reports have been received that drones were used during the autumn moose hunt, reports Sydsvenskan.

Nicklas Berglund, hunt and wildlife coordinator at the police, told P4 Norrbotten that the reports are "detailed and specific". According to Berglund, there are two methods involved: using drones to locate moose, and driving the animals towards hunters with the help of drones.

– We see a very clear pattern perhaps in areas where this occurs and we have a number of named individuals who are engaged in this, says Berglund.

Using drones during hunting is unlawful and can in more serious cases be classified as a serious hunting offence.

– It is incredibly frustrating when certain individuals do not conduct the hunt in the way one should, says Berglund.
