A man in his 70s is remanded in custody on probable grounds for the murder of his cohabiting partner in Surahammar, according to expressen.se with reference to VLT. The incident is said to have occurred on Saturday evening.
Police found the woman, 75 years old, dead in the couple's villa and immediately harboured suspicions against her cohabiting partner. District prosecutor Carl-Johan Norström decided on remand in custody.
– The autopsy will be very decisive in terms of what it shows, Norström told VLT.
The technical examination of the villa has been completed, but the autopsy of the woman is expected to be carried out on Tuesday.
The man was previously convicted of serious violence against the same woman. In 2015, he was convicted of attempted manslaughter after striking her in the head with an axe, and served a five-year prison sentence. As recently as March this year he was released conditionally – and then moved back in with the woman, according to VLT.
