Cumbia singer detained after attacking a police officer outside a casino

Cumbia singer Emanuel Noir was arrested in the early morning on Saturday in Concepción del Uruguay after striking a police officer who denied him access to a closed casino, according to cuestionentrerriana.com.ar.

The incident occurred at approximately 5.45 am. Noir attacked the 40-year-old officer who was performing security duties, causing visible wounds to his face. The cuts were reportedly caused by rings the musician was wearing at the time.

Accompanying the singer was Nicolás Gómez, 29 years old, identified as his companion. The official report stated that officers resorted to the use of "minimum and indispensable force" to restrain both men. Gómez's legal status remained pending resolution.

Assistant fiscal Juan Pablo Gile ordered Noir's transfer to the cells of the First Police Station. The singer was charged with resisting authority and assault.

Born in Entre Ríos in 1989, Noir had recounted in an interview with Mario Pergolini the difficulties of his childhood: paternal absence, extreme vulnerability, and a neighbourhood where within a radius of four blocks, eleven drug sales points operated. From a young age he managed to survive by selling copper and began tattooing himself at eleven years old outside his school, engraving his mother's name on his shoulders.

At 13 years old he began cannabis consumption, to which he later added psychiatric medications and alcohol. "It didn't start so dark, but it ended in the deepest black," he described. The situation led to severe depressive episodes and repeated suicide attempts, the last one in 2020. "I had paranoia, I saw horrible things and it tired me out and exhausted me mentally. My mind only said that I should kill myself, that was the only solution at that moment," he confessed in that interview.

After that critical moment, the vocalist sought help through a friend and checked himself into a recovery centre in Santa Fe.
