Officers from the GAM Division recovered a black RAM 1500 pickup truck with a seizure order for theft from the province of Mendoza, according to tiempodesanjuan.com. The vehicle was being dismantled at a property located on Avenida Ignacio de la Roza, in Capital.
The operation began during a prevention patrol. Agents observed a man leaving the property carrying two shock absorbers. Upon noticing the police presence, the subject threw down the parts and fled into the interior of the property; a foot pursuit failed to locate him.
Upon reviewing the grounds, officers found the black-coloured pickup truck in the western sector, without visible licence plate, already in the process of being scrapped. An occupant of the property consulted about the vehicle stated that his brother had brought it approximately 20 days earlier and that the disassembly had been underway for several days. He also noted that the man who escaped would be his brother's employee, and that that same morning his brother—along with other individuals in a champagne-coloured Toyota Hilux—had left with the vehicle's engine, with no knowledge of their destination.
A check in the SIFCOP system yielded a positive result: the RAM 1500 DX is registered with a seizure order classified as Vehicle Theft under article 163, section 6, and had been stolen on 24 August in Guaymallén, province of Mendoza.
The vehicle was seized under the corresponding seizure order proceedings. Investigations continue to identify the man who fled and to determine the whereabouts of the engine.
