Online fraud in Limassol: 23-year-old arrested – victim lost €34,600 from fake link
A 64-year-old resident of Limassol lost €34,600 after clicking on a link in a courier message. A 23-year-old was arrested by court warrant.

Arrest of 23-year-old for €34,600 internet fraud in Limassol
According to Philenews, police arrested a 23-year-old yesterday morning by court warrant as part of an investigation into a case of online fraud and embezzlement through false representations.
The case began following a complaint lodged in February by a 64-year-old resident of Limassol. The woman reported that on 1 February 2026 she received a message on her mobile phone which appeared to come from a private courier company. After clicking on the link in the message and attempting to pay an amount of €3.46, she discovered that unknown individuals had withdrawn €34,600 from her bank account.
Members of the Cyber Crime Directorate conducted examinations and secured evidence incriminating the 23-year-old. The suspect was remanded in custody to facilitate investigations.
This morning the 23-year-old is expected to appear before the District Court of Limassol for the procedure for issuing a detention order against him. The case is being investigated by the Cyber Crime Directorate of the Cyprus Police's Limassol Division.
