A 54-year-old woman was hospitalised after being struck on the head with a metal sign during an attempted robbery at her Asian bazaar in the Bailén-Miraflores neighbourhood.

Violent assault in Bailén-Miraflores
According to The Olive Press, a gang of five hooded individuals attacked a 54-year-old shop owner at her establishment in Málaga last Friday. The assailants, who arrived on electric scooters and wore dark clothing, threw fruit at the window of the Asian bazaar located in the Bailén-Miraflores neighbourhood.
The shop owner came out to confront the attackers. It was then that the gang grabbed an ice-cream advertising sign and struck her violently on the head, knocking her down. The woman required stitches at hospital for the wound, although her injuries were not life-threatening.
The victim's husband attempted to flee after witnessing the assault, but was also attacked. He did not require hospital care. The assailants fled shortly afterwards, with paramedics arriving minutes later to take the woman to hospital.
Investigation underway
The National Police have opened an investigation and are searching for the five attackers. To date, no arrests have been made. Sources cited by Diario SUR indicated that this was the second incident the couple suffered in two days. The day before the robbery, a group of young people had visited the bazaar to harass and intimidate the owners, who reported the incident to the authorities.
