The National Police are investigating the discovery of a corpse inside a freezer in a residence on Plaza Pintor Sorolla in Castellón, according to castellonaldia.elmundo.es. The discovery took place on Tuesday during a police operation and has mobilised a large investigative operation.

Agents from the Family and Women's Care Unit (UFAM) attended the property as part of an operation aimed at locating a man under investigation for an alleged sexual assault offence. During the intervention, they found the lifeless body hidden inside a freezer. Scientific Police personnel arrived at the scene and carried out various inspection work in the surrounding area of the building during much of the day.

National Police sources have confirmed that on Wednesday a meeting was held between the various investigative teams involved and the judicial authority to coordinate the investigation. The investigation remains open and so far no further official details about the case have been released.

According to reports from media outlets including Las Provincias, La Vanguardia and Telecinco, the suspect also had another linked residence in Peñíscola, which led the National Police to request the collaboration of the Civil Guard. The officers deployed to that locality located the man thanks to the intervention of his mother, who reported that he was very distressed and was threatening to take his own life. After several conversations with the deployed officers, the suspect eventually turned himself in.

The National Police and Civil Guard are now attempting to establish the identity of the deceased person and clarify their relationship to the detainee. Among the hypotheses under investigation is the possibility that the body belongs to a family member or someone from the suspect's immediate circle, an issue that has not yet been officially confirmed.
