The Lorca Local Police arrested an individual on Sunday 23 August who was subject to a search, detention and appearance order for an alleged crime of violent robbery and intimidation, according to lorca.es. The arrest brings the number of those detained for this type of offence in the municipality to four in recent days.
Officers located the suspect in the vicinity of Parque de Puente Gimeno during special surveillance checks being carried out by the Local Police in the municipality. After identifying him and carrying out the necessary verifications, they confirmed the validity of the order and proceeded with his immediate detention.
The detainee was subsequently transferred to the facilities of the National Police Force, where the necessary procedures were carried out for his presentation before a judge.
The councillor for Public Safety, Juan Miguel Bayonas, explained that the operation deployed aims to "increase the preventive presence of officers, intensify surveillance and improve the capacity to respond to any criminal act". Bayonas also highlighted "the swift and effective action of our officers, who are carrying out exceptional work".
The special checks focus priority attention on the areas and time periods considered of greatest police interest, with reinforced presence of officers aimed at both preventing new crimes and locating and identifying possible perpetrators.
The Lorca Town Council announced that it will participate in the corresponding judicial proceedings and will request the expulsion from the country of the four detainees. "We will not allow those who come to commit crimes to remain here a minute longer and we will use all legal mechanisms at our disposal to have them returned to their country and prevented from returning. The message is clear: zero tolerance towards crime; and we will continue to be relentless with those who disrupt coexistence and break the law," said Bayonas.
The Lorca Local Police indicated that reinforced surveillance against violent robberies will be maintained, with preventive measures aimed at anticipating the commission of these crimes and offering a swift response to any incident affecting public safety.
