A joint operation by Barcelona's Guardia Urbana and the Mossos d'Esquadra has resulted in four arrests and the dismantling of a drug warehouse in the Poble-sec neighbourhood, according to elperiodico.com.
The investigation began after it was detected that several individuals were engaged in drug trafficking in the city centre and that their clients were mainly foreign tourists. Officers from the Investigation Unit of the Sants-Montjuïc and Ciutat Vella districts, together with the Regional Public Health Unit of the Mossos d'Esquadra, carried out surveillance and monitoring operations until they identified a flat in Poble-sec being used as a storage point.
During the search and seizure of the premises, officers arrested the four suspects and seized various quantities of heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis, as well as 875 euros in cash and materials for manipulating doses. A bladed weapon was also found. The Guardia Urbana's canine unit participated in the operation to search for drugs hidden inside the property.
