The Civil Guard Traffic Unit in Ávila arrested a school bus driver after testing positive for alcohol and drugs. The minors continued their journey in another vehicle.
School bus driver detained in Ávila testing positive for alcohol and drugs
A school bus driver was detained in Ávila on 5 May after testing positive in breathalyser tests and drug detection tests, according to ABC. Minors were travelling on board the vehicle.
The intervention began following a call from a citizen who alerted the Civil Guard to the irregular driving of the accused. The Civil Guard mobilised several patrols from the Command, as well as from the Traffic Subsector of Ávila, to intercept the vehicle.
Once the bus was stopped, officers conducted the relevant tests, which yielded positive results for both alcohol and drugs. The EIS team from the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard in Ávila filed proceedings for an alleged offence against road safety.
The minors did not experience prolonged interruptions to their journey: the bus company itself chartered an alternative vehicle so they could continue their trip. The proceedings filed were sent to the Civil and Instruction Division of the Court of First Instance of Arenas de San Pedro, in the province of Ávila.
