Arrested at Tarajal with half a kilo of hashish in shoe soles

A man resident in Algeciras was detained on Friday at the Tarajal border in Ceuta as the alleged perpetrator of an offence against public health, according to rtvce.es. Officers attached to the Superior Police Headquarters in Ceuta carried out the intervention once the individual had passed through the pedestrian entry checkpoint.

The detection occurred during a static control operation by the Canine Unit. A dog specialised in narcotic substances selectively alerted to the lower area of the suspect's body, who had just passed document control.

Officers transferred the individual to a private area to guarantee his privacy. Although at first he denied carrying prohibited substances and was reluctant to be searched, he finally consented to a pat-down. Under the insoles of both shoes, police officers found 56 capsules of hashish with a total weight of 650 grammes.

The detainee was taken to the facilities of the Superior Police Headquarters for processing of the corresponding police report and subsequent presentation before the courts.
