A 39-year-old man resident in Tacoronte, Tenerife, has been arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a fraud crime against his 93-year-old grandfather, according to ABC. The defrauded amount totals €9,300, withdrawn repeatedly between January and April 2026 through fraudulent use of the elderly man's bank card.
The case began following a complaint filed by a woman, who alerted the authorities that cash withdrawals were being made from her grandfather's bank account without his authorisation. The account holder, admitted to a care home, confirmed to officers that he had not given permission for any of those operations.
During the investigation, Guardia Civil officers gathered information and documentation, reviewed security camera footage and carried out various enquiries until they identified the alleged perpetrator. The proceedings pointed to the victim's grandson, who is believed to have taken the bank card, obtained the PIN number and made cash withdrawals on a continuous basis over several months.
The actions taken have been forwarded to the competent judicial authority.
